Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Both her parents are both Puerto Ricans. She was born in Queens. At the age of 10, old the family were relocated towards the Dominican Republic, where they were to stay for seven years. Zoe's passion for dance was piqued while they were in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance education with ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy.
